Govt has not solved problems of people despite gaining power: Karu

COLOMBO (News 1st); Chairman of the National Movement for a a Just Society, former Speaker Karu Jayasuriya says that although the present Government gained power with the 20th amendment and a two thirds majority, it has not solved the problems of the people as of yet. Speaking to media, Jayasuriya stated that the lapses in administration of the present Government has caused the prices of essential items to sky rocket causing grievances for the people. Due to this, the people are wasting hours in queues to purchase items, he stated, adding that although the Government received power they need from the 20th amendment and the two thirds majority, they were unable to solve these issues. " What is the Government doing about the fertilizer issue? there was no mention of compensation for this in the budget. We are disappointed because the Government promised to provide some sort of compensation to the people. Even the method in which they are expecting to pay compensation has not been announced," Jayasuriya added.
