Sri Lanka to only import Pfizer jab in future

COLOMBO (News 1st); A decision has been reached to only import the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to the country in the future, State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals, Prof. Channa Jayasumana says. He further stated that Sri Lanka has sufficient stocks of the other vaccines to administer the 1st and 2nd doses of the jab. Whilst pointing out that the main targets of the health authorities now is to inoculate school children and administer the third dose, Prof. Jayasumana emphasized that only the Pfizer vaccine required for these purposes will be imported to the country. He further stated that an order was placed to obtain 14.5 million doses of the Pfizer jab adding that the manufacturer has agreed to distribute the required stocks on a weekly basis.
