COLOMBO (News 1st); The flood situation in the country is receding, while all the flooded areas are returning back to normalcy, says the Disaster Management Center.
Meanwhile, the DMC also stated that steps are being taken to gradually close the sluice gates of all reservoirs, about which 90% were opened due to the risk of overflow with the extreme weather situation.
However, although the disaster situation is receding, the DMC added that the Disaster Relief Mechanism will continue to be in operation.
Moreover, 26 deaths have been recorded due to the extreme weather situation while 230,616 people of 65,698 families have been affected.
