Conventional tactics not the method to control the market - Basil

COLOMBO (News 1st); Finance Minister Basil Rajapaksa says that conventional tactics cannot be utilized to control the market for goods and services. Speaking at the Budget Speech at the Parliament today (12), the Minister of Finance emphasized that Sri Lanka needs a long term and short term program for the purpose. The Finance Minister also stated that a service-based economy should be the future of the Government with the assistance of many sectors, including the tourism sector and others. He further mentioned that steps are necessary to be taken with regard to the depleting forex reserves of the country.
