COLOMBO (News 1st); A large building along the Gampola - Nuwara Eliya road has collapsed into the Atabagaya Oya due to a landslide. The hotel building along the Gampola - Nuwara Eliya road had been hit by a landslide after being closed yesterday (10), however, the people in the area have been evacuated. Due to this, traffic was restricted to a single lane on the Gampola - Nuwara Eliya road after a portion of the road cracked. Meanwhile, several areas in Chilaw have been inundated by floods, and Chilaw, Maikkulam, and Halaba are among the worst affected areas. It was also noted that public transport resumed along the Bulathsinhala - Molkawa road which was flooded after the Kukule Ganga had overflown. Moreover, two sluice gates of the Victoria Reservoir were closed off due to heavy rains in the region. Some by-roads in Gampaha have flooded after the Attanagalu Oya had overflown, while the Gampaha, Ja-Ela 201, and Kandana 276 roads were also flooded due to the extreme weather situation.
