COLOMBO (News 1st); Due to the risk of landslides, the Kandy-Colombo main road has been closed from last night (10) until further notice in the lower Kadugannawa area.
According to the Police, vehicles traveling from Colombo to Kandy can use alternative routes from the Ambepussa Junction and travel to Kandy via Kurunegala, Mawathagama, Galagedara and Katugastota areas.
In addition, vehicles can turn right at the Mawanella junction and travel on the Hemmatagama road, passing through Hemmatagama, Ambuluwawa, Gampola, Peradeniya and Kandy.
The Police Spokesperson said that vehicles traveling from Kandy to Colombo could use the same roads.
The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) decided to close the Kandy-Colombo main road from 10:00 p.m. until further notice due to the risk of landslides in the lower Kadugannawa area.
Meanwhile, the Police is also urging the public to restrict travel only to essential activities until the weather turns favorable.
