Mawanella Politico arrested for intimidating teachers and principals

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Deputy Chairman of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha K. G. Piyatissa was arrested on Wednesday (10) morning for unlawfully entering a school.

He was arrested for reprimanding and making threats to parents and teachers who were present at the school and were protesting in support of the Trade Union action launched by the Teachers & Principals collective.

In addition, two other Local Government Members from Mawanella were also arrested for the same reasons.

The Ceylon Teachers Service Union had filed a Police complaint against the Deputy Chairman of the Mawanella Pradeshiya Sabha accusing him of assaulting teachers and parents who were engaged in a protest at the Mederigama Vidyalaya in Mawanella.
