COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka’s Finance Minister has agreed to award the proposed salary hike in one go for Teachers and Principals in the forthcoming budget.

Teachers & Principals Trade Unions said the Finance Minister agreed to the hike of 1/3 of the salary anomaly, during a meeting with Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa on Wednesday (10).

Trade Union Leader Mahinda Jayasinghe said despite this agreement, the struggle for the complete resolution of the salary anomaly will continue.

In addition, the General Secretary of the Ceylon Teachers Union said the proposal can only be seen as one that can be accepted, only after the budget is presented.
