COLOMBO (News 1st); Extreme Weather conditions that battered most parts of Sri Lanka, resulted in five deaths, authorities confirmed.
The Disaster Management Center said that the total number of people affected was 4,364.
Accordingly, Ratnapura, Kegalle, Nuwara Eliya, Kandy, Mullaitivu, Jaffna, Mannar, Badulla, Puttalam, Colombo, Galle and Trincomalee Districts have been affected by heavy rains.
The number of people who have sought refuge in 09 camps is 251.
12 houses were destroyed and 630 houses were damaged due to landslides and strong winds, the Disaster Management Center says.
Meanwhile, the sluice gates of several reservoirs have been opened, said S.P.C. Sugishwara, the Director of the Hydrology and Disaster Management Unit of the Irrigation Department.
