Prisoner attempts to smuggle mobile phones concealed in shoes

COLOMBO (News 1st); Prison authorities have uncovered an attempt made by an inmate to smuggle four mobile phones into the prison by hiding them inside shoes, today (03). Accordingly, the authorities at the Kalutara Prison have inspected the shoes of a suspect, who was imprisoned after he was produced before the Panadura Magistrate's Court today (03). Prisons Spokesperson Chandana Ekanayake stated that the dumping of prohibited items inside the prison has been prevented due to the active CCTV system of the Kalutara Prison and the strict supervision of the prisons personnel, and due to this, attempts are being made to bring the banned substance into the prison by other means.
