Wanduramba OIC arrested for extortion of Rs. 1 Mn

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Chief Inspector of the Waduramba Police has been arrested yesterday (27) in connection with a case of intimidating a person and extorting Rs. 1 million. Police stated that a person in the Padukka area had visited the Waduramba area with an advance of Rs. 1 million to purchase a vehicle on an agreement reached with another. Investigations have revealed that the person who took the money had been intimidated and the money had been stolen. A special Police team had commenced an investigation into a complaint received regarding this incident, and it has been revealed that the money laundering incident was pre-planned with a fraudulent intention, by the Police OIC of the Waduramba Police Crimed Division.
