Ex-Governor Azath Salley indicted for controversial comments

COLOMBO (News 1st); Indictments were served on Ex-Governor of the Western Province Azath Salley for making a controversial statement at a media briefing on the 9th of March 2021.

The indictments were served in the presence of Colombo High Court Judge Amal Ranaraja, in the case filed by the Attorney General vs Azath Salley.

The Colombo High Court Judge ordered for the evidence examination to commence on the 2nd of November and issued summons on the witnesses from the prosecution to be present in court on that day.

CDs classified as evidence material were ordered to be produced in court on that day, and the court registrar was ordered to ensure all facilities are available to observe the content of those CDs.
