CA prevents further action on case against Pilapitiya

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Court of Appeal on Monday (25) issued a writ order on the Inspector General of Police preventing him from taking any further action with regard to the case filed at the Nugegoda Magistrate's Court against Former Colombo Chief Magistrate & present High Court Judge, Gihan Pilapitiya.

The case was filed against Justice Pilapitiya for a telephone conversation with Ex-Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake with regard to a case that was being taken up at the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court.

In addition, the Court of Appeal also issued a Prohibition Order to the Nugegoda Magistrate preventing the case from being called up in court.

Further, the Court of Appeal also issued an order making null the decision taken by the Attorney General to name Gihan Pilapitiya as a suspect in the case.

The orders were made by Court of Appeal Justices Sobitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola on Monday (25) when an application filed by Gihan Pilapitiya was called up.
