COLOMBO (News 1st); JVP MP Vijtha Herath says that Government funds cannot be deposited into private accounts under any circumstance.

Commenting on his claims that funds have been deposited to a private company’s account to import fertilizer from India, MP Herath said that the funds should have been transferred to the parent company of the local agent by the Government, instead of directly giving it to the local agent.

Stating that it is not the proper method of funds being transferred, Herath said that after a transaction with the parent company is complete, the parent company is the party which gives commissions to the local agent.

Emphasizing that there is no such mechanism, Herath mentioned that although there have been local agents for all the past contracts, the respective deals have been signed with the parent companies.
