COLOMBO (News 1st); Two Sri Lankan fishermen have been arrested in Tamil Nadu on charges of crossing into Indian waters.
Accordingly, two fishermen from Jaffna were arrested by the Indian Navy in Nagapattinam area last evening.
Jaffna District Assistant Director of the Fisheries Department Jayarajasingam Sudhakaran stated that the two arrested fishermen have been handed over to the Vedaranyam Coast Guard.
He said that only two fishermen from Adi Koviladi in Jaffna have been arrested and have been prosecuted in Tamil Nadu.
Steps have been taken to produce the two fishermen before the Egmore Metropolitan Criminal Justice Arbitration.
