Long queues at filling stations despite Minister's assurance

COLOMBO (News 1st); Long queues were seen at gas stations island wide today (22).

The public were seen purchasing fuel in handheld canisters in the Gampola area, while long queues were also observed in areas such as Kandy and Kinniya.

Meanwhile, speaking to News 1st today, Sri Lanka's Energy Minister Udaya Gammanpila said that there is no plan to hike fuel prices in the country.

However, the Lanka IOC decided to increase fuel prices with effect from midnight yesterday (21).
