COLOMBO (News 1st); The General Secretary of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party Dayasiri Jayasekara today (22) requested the Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee in Parliament to summon the perpetrators mentioned in the global exposé, Pandora Papers.

The Pandora Papers investigation by the ICIJ revealed details regarding the overseas assets of Former Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa and her spouse Thirukumar Nadesan.

Pointing out that the Pandora papers were released about two weeks ago, SJB MP S.M. Marikkar said that the Government should not be attempting to cover up the Pandora Papers scandal just as the Former Prime Minister attempted with the Central Bank Bond Scam.

" They took money from the Gin-Nilwala project. This money was then given to that Chinese company, and from that Chinese company to the Hong Kong company owned by Nirupama's husband," MP Marikkar revealed.

SJB MP Lakshman Kiriella also requested the Speaker to consider the proposal brought forth by State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara to appoint a Parliamentary Select Committee, as a large sum of funds have been lost.

SLFP MP Dayasiri Jayasekara emphasized that both Former Deputy Minister Nirupama Rajapaksa and her spouse, T. Nadesan can be summoned before the PSC.
