COLOMBO (News 1st); Schools with less than 200 students re-opened for academic activities today (21).

Accordingly, the Minister of Education previously decided that schools in the country will be reopened following a step-by-step plan, based on the reports presented to him by the District Secretaries.

However, the Teacher's Unions have announced that they will not be present at schools to conduct academic activities today (21) and tomorrow (22).

Meanwhile, the Graded Principals' Association said that although the principals will not be visiting the schools, around 10 non-academic staff members will instead visit the schools for the two days to ensure that smooth functioning of the school takes place.

Moreover, the Minister of Education issuing a special announcement said yesterday (20) that as a proper solution has been given for the teachers' and principals' salary anomaly issue, nobody can prevent the teachers and students from visiting schools.

The Ministry of Education also conducted an inoculation program recently for A/L students in view of the upcoming examination as well.
