COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka Navy continues to engage in search and rescue operations to locate the missing fisherman who is said to be in the Indian poaching vessel sunken northwest of the Kovilan Lighthouse in Sri Lankan waters on 18th October.
Meanwhile, the Navy diving teams carried out an underwater diving inspection at the sunken fishing vessel this morning in search of the missing fishermen. However, the inspection made no recovery of the missing person.
Further, Sri Lanka Navy continues to carry out search and rescue operations using Fast Attack Craft. Apart from that, an Indian naval ship was also seen searching for the missing fisherman in Indian waters.
The two Indian fishermen (02) who were rescued from the unfortunate incident were brought ashore by the Sri Lanka Navy on the night of 18th October and they were handed over to the Kayts Police in Jaffna for onward legal action today (19th October).
