COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said that the government, which boasted of having a character with seven brains that could work miracles in the economy, is now oppressing people as never before in history.

He said the prices increased on goods are collected by the government and are being distributed among the politicians in the name of development.

“There needs to be development, but for that, the people need to survive,” he said.

The Leader of the Opposition said economic hardship and poverty are mounting in every village, and the government has no plan to uplift the lives of people.

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa said so during a protest in Kesbewa town against the rising cost of living in the country.

“While the rulers are enjoying benefits, the people are suffering. The government had brought about torture for the people,” said Sajith Premadasa.
