Fertilizer shortage could lead to famine, riots: Patali

COLOMBO (News 1st); The fertilizer shortage could lead to not only famine but riots, says SJB MP Patali Champika Ranawaka.

Commenting on the present fertilizer crisis in Sri Lanka the MP pointed out that organic farming cannot be carried out in such a disorganized manner.

Moreover, Ranawaka also challenged the President and the Prime Minister to at least do 1% of the harvesting in a proper manner.

He emphasized that the farmers should be provided with proper fertilizer and not the kind of fertilizer that causes kidney diseases.

"Please ensure that the Maha season farming is done in a proper manner by providing the farmers their necessary facilities, otherwise not only Sri Lanka will be subjected to a famine, but also to a riotous situation," he added.
