Imported Milk Powder Prices Increased

COLOMBO (News 1st); The price of a kilogram of imported Milk Powder has been increased by Rs. 250. This was confirmed to News 1st by Member of the Milk Powder Importers Association,  Lakshaman Weerasuriya. Accordingly, the products will be issued to the market from next Monday (11) onwards. Weerasuriya further stated that the Association previously requested the State Minister for a price hike of Rs. 350, however the Minister responded saying that such a price increase would be an additional burden on the people. Accordingly, a packet of 1 kg of milk powder will be sold at Rs. 1,195 while a 400g milk powder packet will be sold at Rs. 480. He added that with this price hike, the lines for purchasing milk powder is expected to reduce.
