COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka has printed more than Rs. 106 billion since the beginning of October 2021

According to the Central Bank data, the 106 billion rupees printed for this month, brings the total Treasury Bill stock held by the Central Bank to 1,442 billion rupees or 1.4 trillion rupees.

More than 700 billion rupees have been printed so far this year, according to the data.

In a tweet, the former Deputy Governor said with usable foreign exchange reserves falling to 2.1 billion US Dollars at the end of September and with the bonus of Special Drawing Rights allocation is gone; unless expected flows by Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal is received in the next few months, the Central Bank will be unable to keep rupee rate at 203 against the US Dollar.
