US taking advantage of Sri Lanka: Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Federation of National Organizations filed a complaint against Treasury Secretary S. R. Attygalle with the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption on Thursday (7).

The complaint was filed over the controversial agreement on the Yugadanavi Power Plant with New Fortress Energy Inc.

Ven. Bengamuwe Nalaka Thero, the Convener of the Federation of National Organizations pointed out that the United States is simply taking advantage of Sri Lanka.

" Sometimes the Government says that they didn't sell the power plant. Whether they sell or lease one. The US firm will lease it out for a while and then take what they want and leave. Therefore, the President and the Prime Minister should understand what is being done here. We need to understand is that we need to protect these national resources" he said.
