Qatar & Saudi Arabia requests workers to obtain Pfizer as booster

COLOMBO (News 1st); Authorities of Qatar and Saudi Arabia have requested Sri Lankan workers who have received both doses of the Sinopharm vaccine to obtain Pfizer as a booster vaccine. The General Manager of the Bureau of Foreign Employment, Mangala Randeniya said that the Pfizer vaccine has been made mandatory for those who are visiting countries in the Middle East and Europe for work. Meanwhile, close to 20,000 persons have been registered with the Bureau of Foreign Employment to go abroad for employment. Out of these, 8,000 have been vaccinated in the first phase by the SLBFE. Randeniya stated that due to this, a request has been made to the Ministry of Health to provide the required number of Pfizer vaccines to the remaining workers as soon as possible.
