3rd vaccine dose recommended for over 20 population

COLOMBO (News 1st); Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath said that the technical committee had made a preliminary recommendation for providing a 3rd vaccine dose for the over 20 population. Dr. Herath said that although the initial recommendation was made, the Director-General of Health is yet to issue a circular or written guidelines about the administering of the third dose. "We're talking about a large number of people. So as we receive the vaccine doses, it is important that we start with the high-risk groups and gradually move towards inoculating others. Therefore, we need to patiently wait until the documented guidelines are issued," He said.
