India is ready for large-scale investments: Foreign Minister

COLOMBO (News 1st); Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris said today (06) that India is ready for large-scale investments in Sri Lanka. Speaking during a press conference held today (06), the Foreign Minister emphasized that the visit of the Foreign Secretary of India, Harsh Vardhan  Shringla did not take place in connection with one particular subject matter. "We cannot limit the bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and India to just one matter" he said. Pointing out that India is ready for large-scale investments, the Foreign Minister said that India has identified two sectors for investment to boost the post-pandemic economy recovery, which are pharmeceuticals and IT sectors. He added that Sri Lanka is trying to collaborate the Board of Investment, export development board, tourism authority, tea board, and Sri Lankan Airlines for a joint project to broaden the economic relationship between Sri Lanka and India.
