Minister & Governors agree to re-open 3,000 schools

COLOMBO (News 1st); 3,000 schools have been selected to commence operations in the first stage, the Ministry of Education says. In a statement, the Ministry said that following several rounds of discussions between the Minister of Education and the Governors of all Provinces, an understanding was reached with respect to reopening schools. Accordingly, the Governors and the Minister have discussed about reopening 3,000 schools with less than 100 students in all grades and, schools with less than 200 student from grades 1-5, as the opening phases of the school reopening program. Accordingly, a program will be implemented to repair school infrastructure.
