COLOMBO (News 1st); Colombo Additional Magistrate S. Prabhakaran today (30) ordered for the lifting of the travel ban of three crew members of the MV X-Press Pearl which caught fire on May 20 off Sri Lankan waters while transporting cargo of goods including toxic chemicals.
The Additional Magistrate gave the order after considering the request made by Deputy Solicitor General Madhava Tennakoon, who appeared for the Attorney General, to lift the travel ban and allow the Indian, Chinese, and Filipino National to travel abroad as the investigations into them have now been completed.
Colombo Additional Magistrate Lochani Abeywickrema, after considering a request made by the CID, previously imposed a travel ban on 25 persons, including the captain of the ship, and 14 of them had had their travel bans lifted.
The Additional Magistrate also ordered that the case be adjourned until the 25th of October.
