COLOMBO (News 1st); The Department of Registration of persons will be open from Monday (4) in line with the recommendations of the Director General of Health, Dr. Asela Gunawardena.

A release from the Department states that, however, the one-day service facility for issuing National Identity Cards will not be functional at the Department head office, and the relevant service has to be obtained by presenting credentials such as the Birth Certificate to Local Government offices.

Moreover, if persons have an urgent need to obtain an NIC, they have been instructed to call the below numbers and to reserve an appointment.
