COLOMBO (News 1st); Army Commander General Shavendra Silva thanked the public for following the health regulations put in place by the authorities to curb the pandemic.
Speaking to the media about the lockdown being lifted tomorrow (01), the Army Commander said that it is not possible to keep the country closed at all times.
” As a country with relatively a smaller population, we have been able to fully vaccinate more than half of our citizens. We have been able to bring down more than 30 million vaccines from 5 different brands as well,” he said.
” I would like to thank the people of Sri Lanka for their sacrifices. No matter what rules and regulations have been put in place to combat this crisis, the people were an integral part of controlling the spread of the virus. Therefore I would like to request the public to understand that and give their fullest support to eradicate this virus from Sri Lanka.” the army Commander added.
