Govt, a virus dangerous than COVID-19, says SJB

COLOMBO (News 1st); Opposition lawmakers have termed the government as a virus more dangerous than COVID-19.

Harin Fernando, a parliamentarian representing the Samagi Jana Balavegaya said it is time to remove the government, which is a virus to the entire country.

"Every virus comes from overseas. The President and Finance Minister are also from overseas," he said.

Fernando said the government is preparing for a major event in November, where it will seek a 'vaccine' to protect the government.

Opposition Lawmaker S. M. Marikkar slammed the government for failing to prioritize the over 60 population in the administration of the vaccine against COVID-19.

He said if a majority of the dead are over 60 and who did not receive the vaccine, the government should be held accountable for their deaths.

SJB MP Manusha Nanayakkara said an economic mafia is working together with a group, that he termed as the 'virus', to destabilize the economy.

'Those who stated that local assets will not be sold, have started selling off lands and power-plants,' he alleged.
