MRP of rice being revised at Ministerial level

COLOMBO (News 1st): A decision has been reached to revise the current Maximum Retail Price of Rice, taking into consideration requests of the farming community. The Commissioner General of Essential Services (Rtd.) Major General Senarath Nivunhella said the new prices are being formulated at the Ministerial level. A special gazette notification was issued recently imposing a Maximum Retail Price for Rice. According to the gazette notification, the MRP of one kilogram of Keeri Samba is Rs. 125 while the MRP of one kilogram of white or red Samba is Rs. 103. The MRP of one kilogram of White or Red Nadu is Rs. 98, while the MRP of one kilogram of White or Red Raw Rice was announced as Rs. 95.
