Amber advisory for severe lightning issued

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Meteorological Department has issued an amber advisory for severe lightning today (18).

Accordingly, thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Northern, North Central and Eastern Provinces.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers as well.

The warning has been issued with effect from noon today (18) until 7.30 a.m. tomorrow (19).

The Meteorological Department warns the public to take precautionary measures in the event of lightning and thundershowers.
