613 persons arrested for violating lockdown

COLOMBO (News 1st): Another 613 persons have been arrested for violating lockdown regulations yesterday (17). This was during the period of time from 6:00 a.m. yesterday (17) until 6:00 a.m. today (18). The number of vehicles seized by the police during the last 24 hours was also 104. Accordingly, a total of 74,507 persons have been arrested on charges of violating the lockdown since last year. Meanwhile, 1,804 persons entering and exiting the Western Province as well as 1,168 vehicles were inspected by the Police yesterday. Police also took steps to deport 295 persons who had not obtained the required permits along with the vehicles in which they had arrived.
