COLOMBO (News 1st); Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen was returned to remand custody until the 01st of October 2021, by Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jayasuriya on Friday (17).
The order was made when the case filed over the death of 16-year-old Jude Kumar Ishalini, who died while employed at the residence of Ex-Minister Rishad Bathiudeen.
An application filed for bail on behalf of the suspect was rejected by the court.
Deputy Solicitor General Dileepa Peiris told the court that the investigations on MP Rishad Bathiudeen are yet to be completed.
DSG Peiris noted that granting bail to the suspect would hinder the investigations and opposed granting bail.
In addition, the MPs Wife & Father-in-Law, the 02nd and 03rd suspects in the case were released on 04 surety bails each, and each amounting to one million rupees.
The Additional Magistrate ordered the suspects to refrain from making any changes to the room in which the victim used while employed at the Colombo residence.
Based on an agreement reach in court, the Additional Magistrate ordered for the room to be sealed.
The suspects were barred from overseas travel and were warned that if it is reported that they influence the investigations or the witnesses from the prosecution, bail will be revoked and they will be returned to remand custody.
