COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Finance Basil Rajapaksa has instructed the officials to identify the problems faced by those who are seeking to go abroad for employment and to take immediate action to solve them.
A press release issued by the Ministry of Finance states that the Minister made these remarks addressing a progress review meeting of the Foreign Exchange Flow Task Force held at Temple Trees recently.
The Minister emphasized the need to remove any obstacles as soon as possible as there is a high demand for Sri Lankans in the foreign employment market.
Revenue from merchandise exports averaged US $ 840 million last year, however had increased to US $ 986 million in the first eight months of 2021.
The Minister further stated that while the growth of the export sector will continue to strengthen the economy, active development activities in the country will also continue.
