COLOMBO (News 1st); Humanoid scarecrows dressed in old clothes are usually placed in open fields to scare off birds and other animals from destroying crops.

However, farmers in Polonnaruwa took these scarecrows to the next level and used them in a protest demanding a proper price for their paddy.

The farmers demanded the government at least impose a rate of Rs. 60/- per kilogram of paddy.
