Rs. 106 Million allocated as Prize money for Paralympic winners

COLOMBO (News 1st): A special Cabinet paper had been approved for the reward scheme of Tokyo 2020 Paralympics winners, the Ministry of Youth and Sports says. Accordingly, a total amount of Rs. 106.625 million has been allocated for the reward scheme. The special Cabinet paper has been approved on the request of the Sports and Youth Minister, Namal Rajapaksa. Sri Lanka managed to win two medals at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics, with Warrant Officer-1 Dinesh Priyantha winning a gold medal at the Men's Javelin F46 event and Samitha Dulan Kodituwakku winning the Bronze medal at the Men's Javelin throw - F64 event. The entirety of Rs. 106.625 million will be allocated to medal winning athletes and their respective coaches. Prize money breakdown in LKR
  • Gold medal winner - 50M
  • Bronze medal winner - 20M
  • 4th - 8th place - 2.5M
  • 9th - 16th Place - 1M (x4)
  • World Record - 10M
  • Coaches - 19.125M
