COLOMBO (News 1st): The spread of COVID-19 among expectant mothers has increased rapidly, with the rate of patients who require Oxygen, ICU care and hospital admission being on the rise, the Ministry of Health said.
“Expectant mothers should obtain the COVID-19 vaccine immediately. They could face more complications compared to others and therefore, they must take all the necessary precautions to stay protected,” Specialist Dr. Chitramali de Silva, Director of the Family Health Bureau advised.
According to Dr. Chitramali de Silva, expectant mothers can be vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, during any trimester.
