COLOMBO (News 1st): Many children have contracted the Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), after 14 days of being infected with the COVID-19 virus, the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children said. "If children have complications such as vomiting, stomach aches and eye redness, they should be referred for immediate medical attention to avoid further complications," Dr. G. Wijesuriya, the Director of the Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children advised on Tuesday (Sept. 7). The daily rate of COVID-19 infections among children reported to the LRH has declined; however, adults are advised to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine and continue to follow the health guidelines, he added. According to Dr. Wijesuriya, around 50% of the beds allocated for COVID-19 patients at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital are currently occupied. Whilst pointing out that Dengue cases are also being reported among children in addition to COVID-19, he further requested the people to take adequate precautions.
