COLOMBO (News 1st): The lifting and imposing of travel restrictions should be done on a scientific basis and not due to external influences, Professor Nelika Malavige of the Sri Jayewardenepura University said yesterday (31).

Speaking at the 16th Sujatha Jayawardena commemorative address of the University of Colombo yesterday (31), Prof. Malavige said ” infectious diseases has caused more loss to lives and the economies than all the world wars and other wars and terrorists attacks.

Prof. Malavige also said that the country should be better prepared to handle invisible threats.
