COLOMBO (News 1st): No undue fear should be created about the COVID-19 pandemic, MP S.B. Dissanayake said responding to the allegations leveled against his statements yesterday (26). Dissanayake today appealed all politicians and media institutions to refrain from creating undue fear of the pandemic. " A lot of persons, especially the youth suffer when a lockdown is imposed. I do not like the Government's decision to impose further lockdowns. We do not need it. And many are creating undue fear about the pandemic within the public. Certain scientists have also appealed the worldwide community to not to create fear about the virus while still being protected against it" the MP stated. MP Dissanayake pointed out that when a lockdown is imposed, various social groups including children are subjected to great stress, and some even die due to undue stress. "We should reopen the country on 30 August. The Government has prioritized vaccination for all citizens. If some persons do not get vaccinated, they should be forced to obtain the vaccine" He added.
