I cannot donate my salary: State Minister Piyal Nishantha

COLOMBO (News 1st): State Minister Piyal Nishantha says that he cannot donate his salary to the COVID-19 fund.

During a press conference held yesterday (23), the State Minister said that he is currently in a financial impediment, therefore cannot donate his salary in line with the decision made by the Cabinet Ministers to donate their salaries for the month to the COVID-19 fund.

" I clearly have to say I cannot donate my salary. My entire salary goes to the loan I took from a bank from within the Parliament itself. A person understandably cannot donate their salary when they are in a financial impediment like me. " The State Minister mentioned.

However, he added that he has facilitated for a certain amount to be collected from his associates to be donated to the COVID-19 fund.
