Report on new variants to be released on Friday (20)

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Director of the Institute of Allergy Immunology and Cell Biology, Dr. Chandima Jeewandara says that the report of the investigations carried out to find whether the Delta variant has been subjected to mutations, will be released today (20).

The University of Sri Jayewardenepura has conducted research to find out whether any new strains have been discovered from Sri Lanka, and to find out whether a new variant of the virus has emerged from Sri Lanka.

Dr. Jeewandara said that samples were taken for the test from various areas in the Colombo District for the purpose of gene sequencing the samples.
