COLOMBO (News 1st): Minister of Trade Dr. Bandula Gunawardena stated that Sathosa has taken steps to implement a system of door-to-door distribution of essential relief items covering the entire island.
He said that the relief bag will be delivered to the doorstep of those who requested, within two weeks from the commencement of this distribution service, free of charge.
Moreover, Minister Gunawardena stated that self-quarantine is a commendable step in the face of the economic crisis that has affected the entire world and the health problems which have affected the people.
He further mentioned that Sathosa and Co-operative outlets, as well as economic centers, various state-owned corporations, and Q-shops, will remain open to customers as essential services.
However, the Minister emphasized that anyone has the right to self-quarantine, similarly as the right of owners to open or close any shop of their ownership.
Additionally, the Minister said that by continuing to provide essential services, the consumer will be able to obtain essential goods without any hindrance.
