Intoxicated son murders mother in Eravur

COLOMBO (News 1st): A 65-year old female was found hacked to death by her son in Eravur yesterday (10), Police Spokesperson SDIG Ajith Rohana says. The Police Spokesperson said that Eravur Police initiated an investigation in this regard and it was revealed that the suspect was under the influence of alcohol when the incident had taken place. He further stated that the suspect was taken into Police custody along with the sharp weapon that was used to commit the crime, and a Magisterial inquest in this regard was conducted yesterday (10). The autopsy of the corpse will be conducted by the Batticaloa Judicial Medical officer today (11), he added. Senior DIG Ajith Rohana says further investigations are being carried out in this regard and the suspect will be produced before the Batticaloa Magistrate's Court today (11), he added.
