COLOMBO (News 1st); About 150 expatriate domestic aides have died due to COVID-19 within the past two years, the Media Spokesperson of the Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment, Mangala Randeniya says.
"We can only obtain information from about 17 countries that we send domestic aides to, and according to the statistics we have obtained, about 150 Sri Lankan expatriate domestic aides have died due to COVID-19 during the past two years."
"However, most out of those who were infected with COVID-19 so far have recovered, and a majority of Sri Lankans working overseas have obtained the COVID-19 vaccine as well. " The Media Spokesperson of SLBFE said.
Moreover, Sri Lankans who are going to Saudi Arabia as domestic aides have the facility of obtaining the vaccine from that country itself, he added.
