COLOMBO (News 1st); The Sri Lankan Government is considering making it MANDATORY to be in possession of the COVID-19 Vaccination Card in the future.
Army Commander General Shavendra Silva, who is also the Head of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said the matter is being discussed with all relevant stakeholders.
‘If the people are obtaining the vaccine, we will have to make it compulsory to carry the Vaccination Card at all times in order to confirm if they actually obtained the vaccine or not,’ he said.
General Shavendra Silva said the Divisional Secretaries and Grama Niladhari Officers have been instructed to carry out a regional census to trace those who have not obtained the COVID-19 vaccine and to direct them to obtain the vaccine without any delay.
Further, he urged all those above the age of 60 to obtain the COVID-19 vaccine without any delay and the Health Ministry also stressed that all those who require to obtain the 02nd dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to visit the designated vaccination center immediately.
