Lifting restrictions likely to cause surge in COVID cases, warns health sector

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka's health sector has warned that there could be a spike in COVID numbers with the relaxing of travel restrictions.

Deputy Director-General of Public Health Services Dr. Hemantha Herath speaking to News 1st said COVID spreads faster when restrictions are lifted.

He said it is of paramount importance to adhere to the health guidelines especially when using public transport and entering offices and business premises.

Dr. Hemantha Herath said to prevent a spike in COVID numbers all sectors must cooperate with the health sector.
